Baseball Game Preview: Shawano Community Hawks vs. Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes

The Shawano Community Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shawano Community will be strutting in after a victory while Fox Valley Lutheran will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Shawano Community needed a bit of extra time to put away New London. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Grant Keszo looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shawano Community is 3-1 when Keszo allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Alex Zierden was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Dane Hodkiewicz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Fox Valley Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Denmark.

Fox Valley Lutheran saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Schlueter, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Fox Valley Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Shawano Community, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Shawano Community couldn't quite finish off Fox Valley Lutheran in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 and fell 10-8. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
