Baseball Game Preview: Hawkins Hawks vs. Frankston Indians

The Hawkins Hawks will square off against the Frankston Indians on Thursday. The last four games Hawkins has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Hawkins is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Pewitt. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by just one run.

Landen Burns was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Givens, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Frankston earned a 6-1 win over Ore City on Monday.

Frankston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hawkins, they pushed their record up to 24-8-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Hawkins might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Frankston when the teams last played back in February of 2016. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
