Soccer Game Preview: Valley vs. Hope Christian

Valley hasn't had much luck against Hope Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Huskies at 6:30 p.m. Valley has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Valley had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Albuquerque Academy put an end to it on Thursday. The Vikings lost 10-0 to the Chargers. While losing is never fun, Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico soccer rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Albuquerque Academy are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Hope Christian kept a clean sheet against Albuquerque Academy on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Chargers. Give Hope Christian's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Mechi Garbarino and Bryson Fankam scored both of Hope Christian's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 42 goals.

Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for Hope Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0.
