Basketball Game Preview: Tazewell Bulldogs vs. Virginia High Bearcats

The Tazewell Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Virginia High Bearcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 20 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Tazewell and five for Virginia High.

Tazewell is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Graham on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tazewell was beaten by Graham 67-9. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-0.

Meanwhile, Virginia High lost 65-40 to John Battle on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Trojans are ranked 130th).

Tazewell's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Virginia High, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Tazewell took a serious blow against Virginia High in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 62-19. Can Tazewell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
