Volleyball Game Preview: Crawfordsville Athenians vs. North Putnam Cougars

Crawfordsville hasn't had much luck against North Putnam recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Athenians will take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Crawfordsville was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Non Varsity Opponent 2-1.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (64-53) Crawfordsville actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 10-25, 28-26, 15-13.

Meanwhile, North Putnam came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Mavericks.

North Putnam had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-20, 26-24, 25-19.

Crawfordsville's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for North Putnam, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9.

Crawfordsville might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from North Putnam in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Athenians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
