Baseball Recap: Langtree Charter Academy Takes a Loss

Langtree Charter Academy had lost seven straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 11-11 to make it eight. They fell 9-5 to the Christ the King Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on April 9th.

Langtree Charter Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Barbee, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Christ the King, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On Christ the King's side, Colin Ryan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Troy Alderfer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Christ the King is undefeated when Alderfer posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Jimmy Tamuccio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Langtree Charter Academy will square off against Stuart W. Cramer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Christ the King, they will face off against Randleman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight.
