Softball Recap: Prairie Heights Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Prairie Heights came out on top against Edon on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Bombers. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hayley Hardy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Hardy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emily McCrea was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Olivia Boots, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Prairie Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Prairie Heights' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Edon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Prairie Heights has already played their next contest, a 16-2 win against Elkhart Christian Academy on the 10th. As for Edon, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Archbold at 5:00 p.m.
