Baseball Recap: Charlotte Drops Season-High Score on Naples

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Charlotte). Everything went their way against the Naples Golden Eagles on Friday as the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons made off with a 12-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Fightin' Tarpons needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Bradyn Williams tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Frank Planer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Evan Ellsworth also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Charlotte always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Charlotte's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Naples, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte will head out to challenge Port Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Port Charlotte 2.2, Charlotte 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Naples, they will take on Lakewood Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
