Basketball Game Preview: Wildwood Wolves vs. New Roads Jaguars

Wildwood is 2-8 against New Roads since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Wildwood Wolves will head out to face off against the New Roads Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Wednesday, Wildwood didn't have quite enough to beat Hawthorne Math & Science Academy and fell 49-47.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jonah Spitz, who went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Zane Bryant was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Even though they lost, Wildwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, New Roads was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Geffen Academy 89-39.

Wildwood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for New Roads, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Wildwood strolled past New Roads when the teams last played on Saturday by a score of 62-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wildwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
