Basketball Recap: Ooltewah Takes a Loss

If Ooltewah was riding high fresh off their 55-33 takedown of Hixson last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ooltewah Owls came up short against the Meigs County Tigers on Monday, falling 61-37. The Owls have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Ooltewah saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aleigha Taylor went 10 of 17 en route to 22 points. Taylor's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Jamilynn Ware also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Ooltewah now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Meigs County, they pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Ooltewah didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-16 victory against Howard Tech on the 14th. As for Meigs County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-39 win against Polk County on the 14th.
