Recap: Golden Demons vs. Evergreen Cougars
After flying high against the Alameda Pirates last Friday, the Golden Demons came back down to earth. Golden fell just short of Evergreen by a score of 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Golden has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, Golden saw an underclassman step up: Ashlyn Bates dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. Bates is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Brooklynn Carbone was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Golden now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Evergreen, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Golden will head out on the road to challenge Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Bear Creek is ranked 114th, while Golden is ranked 137th). As for Evergreen, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Pomona at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Pomona is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
