Baseball Recap: Red River Find Success

While Red River put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Shanley. The Roughriders came out on top against the Deacons by a score of 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Roughriders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alex Seaver made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Seaver wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Griffen Haagenson, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Red River's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Shanley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Shanley beat Red River by a score of 9-8 later that day.
