Volleyball Recap: Coronado Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Coronado had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Fountain-Fort Carson on Thursday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

Coronado walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-13, 25-17, 25-21.

Gavin Mason paced Coronado's offense, picking up 12 kills. Mason got some help from Paolo Piuma and his 35 assists. Finally, Sebastian Steger kept Coronado's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Coronado pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Coronado didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Lutheran on the 12th. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will square off against Discovery Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight.
