Baseball Recap: Parke Heritage Starts Season with Victory at Home

Parke Heritage gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the North Vermillion Falcons. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won eight in a row.

Renn Harper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Harper was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Brayden Bays looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lewie Woody, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Klayton Burgess, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

North Vermillion is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
