Baseball Recap: Zion-Benton Comes Up Short

Zion-Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Forest Scouts. If the Zee-Bees were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Scouts when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Zion-Benton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Diliberti, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI. Michael Gonzalez was another, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Zion-Benton's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Lake Forest, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Zion-Benton beat Lake Forest by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday.
