Football Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 13-13 at halftime, Taft was not quite Yorktown's equal in the second half on Friday. They and the Wildcats were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 21-20 defeat. The Greyhounds were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Yorktown was led to victory by Brody Metting and McKenzie Yanta. Metting rushed for 87 yards and two TDs, while Yanta rushed for 97 yards and one score. Metting has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Yorktown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Taft will welcome Monte Alto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds will be up against the Blue Devil's rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Yorktown, they will head out on the road to face off against Bruni at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
