Volleyball Recap: North Baltimore Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when North Baltimore faced off against Cardinal Stritch on Saturday. The Tigers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While North Baltimore ultimately came up short, they really made Cardinal Stritch work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-21.

Riley Byrd paced North Baltimore's offense, picking up seven kills. Byrd got some help from Josselyn Paynter and her eight assists. Paynter was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

North Baltimore's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Cardinal Stritch, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. North Baltimore will square off against Ottawa Hills at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Green Bears will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cardinal Stritch, they will challenge Toledo Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
