Baseball Recap: Ketchikan Comes Up Short

If Ketchikan was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Petersburg on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kings fell just short of the Homer Mariners by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Kings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mariners earlier this season, when they won 11-10.

Jonathan Scoblic made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Owen Mendoza also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Ketchikan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Homer, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Ketchikan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-8 win against Petersburg on the 12th. As for Homer, they will take on Redington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
