Independence won the last time they faced Liberty and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Independence got a great performance from Kenzie Pierce as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Emma Lilly was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Lilly, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted an OBP of .364.
Independence pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will take on Hoover at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Liberty, they are taking a road trip to square off against James Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
