Baseball Recap: North Buncombe Triumphs

North Buncombe's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Erwin Warriors by a score of 7-4. The win continues a trend for the Black Hawks in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Kameron Keenan was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because North Buncombe is 7-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise. Keenan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, North Buncombe let Dalton Anderson and Bannen Winker run wild. Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Winker went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Winker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

North Buncombe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

North Buncombe's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Erwin, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Coming up, North Buncombe will face off against Smoky Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Black Hawks are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Erwin will be paying especially close attention to North Buncombe's matchup: after North Buncombe faces off against Smoky Mountain, they'll take on Erwin again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
