Softball Recap: Timberlake Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

Timberlake came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Maries Lumberjacks, sneaking past 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 on Thursday.

Shae Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Jesi Kitchin was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Timberlake pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. Maries, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timberlake will take on Lakeland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Maries, they will face off against Orofino at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
