Football Game Preview: Wilson Prep Tigers vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers

The Wilson Prep Tigers will square off against the Northside - Pinetown Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wilson Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past KIPP P 42-16. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Pride: they've now won five in a row.

Travon Usher produced another solid performance rushing for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 27 yards and one TD. What's more, he racked up 177.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wilson Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Wilson Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Tyquan Whitaker led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Ethan Nelson is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last six games he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Northside - Pinetown was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Bear Grass Charter 43-6. With the Panthers ahead 36-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Northside - Pinetown had a senior duo take command as Chase Hewitt rushed for 56 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries and Sincere Columbus rushed for 94 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Northside - Pinetown's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Wilson Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
