Baseball Recap: Troy Warriors vs. Sonora Raiders
Troy extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 16-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sonora Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Monday.
As for Sonora, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9. Three seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
For Sonora's part, Robby Blaine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Blaine has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ryan Lietzau was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Troy beat Sonora by a score of 4-2 on Friday.
