Recap: Liberty Bell Mountain Lions vs. Tonasket Tigers

The Liberty Bell Mountain Lions had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They skirted past Tonasket 55-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Liberty Bell also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Kristian Jones and Tanner Tompkins certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Jones dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Tompkins scored 13 points. Jones scored a full 34.6% of Tonasket's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bradon Prock, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.

Liberty Bell's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Tonasket, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Bell will challenge Oroville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oroville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Liberty Bell is ranked 59th). Tonasket won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Omak at 7:15 p.m. on January 6th.
