Recap: Ysleta Indians vs. Canutillo Eagles
If the Ysleta Indians were feeling good off their 59-19 takedown of the Anthony Wildcats last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ysleta took a 33-19 bruising from Canutillo on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 59 points in the game before, Ysleta couldn't push the score so high this time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canutillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Lopez, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lopez has scored at least 25% of Canutillo's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebekah Perez, who scored 7 points along with 13 rebounds and 7 blocks.
Ysleta has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Canutillo, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Ysleta will play host again and welcome Harmony Science Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canutillo, they will square off against Austin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Austin has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 11.
