Basketball Recap: Ramsey Comes Up Short

Ramsey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The game between the Rams and Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine didn't end well, with the Rams falling 61-47. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 38-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2025.

Despite the loss, Ramsey still got an impressive performance from Anna Benhoff, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards. Benhoff has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Kelli Cook was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Genna Kidwell had another great game (as she tends to do), shooting 62% from the field on her way to 30 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine. With that strong performance, Kidwell is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Tipton, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Ramsey's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Ramsey has already played their next matchup, a 32-26 loss against Lincolnwood on the 19th. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-19 defeat against Robinson on the 16th.
