Baseball Game Preview: Moreau Catholic Mariners vs. Mission San Jose Warriors

For the second straight game, Moreau Catholic will face off against Mission San Jose. The Mariners will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Moreau Catholic will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Moreau Catholic's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Mission San Jose as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The matchup marked the Mariners' most dominant win of the season.

Nate Elizarrey made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Moreau Catholic is 4-1-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-11 otherwise. Elizarrey was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Back at the plate, Moreau Catholic got a massive performance out of Gary Elizarrey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Elizarrey has become a key player for the Mariners: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-12-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Benji Fuentes, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Moreau Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission San Jose only posted an OBP of .267.

Moreau Catholic's record is now 8-12-1. As for Mission San Jose, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
