Basketball Game Preview: Leake Central Gators vs. Louisville Wildcats

The Leake Central Gators will head out to square off against the Louisville Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Leake Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 21 matches.

Leake Central is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since December 6, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 victory over Northeast Lauderdale.

Meanwhile, Louisville was beaten by Kosciusko 71-43 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Whippets are ranked 42nd).

Leake Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Louisville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Leake Central didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Louisville when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 66-60 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leake Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
