Softball Game Preview: Athens Warriors vs. Lincolnwood Lancers

The Athens Warriors will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Lincolnwood Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Athens is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Havana on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled against the Ducks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Lincolnwood was able to grind out a solid victory over Vandalia on Monday, taking the game 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Vandals: they've now won three in a row.

Athens took their victory against Lincolnwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0. Will Athens repeat their success, or does Lincolnwood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
