Baseball Game Preview: Northview Academy Cougars vs. Jefferson County Patriots

The Northview Academy Cougars will face off against the Jefferson County Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Northview Academy fell victim to Union County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 6-0 to the Patriots. The Cougars have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Jefferson County made easy work of Sevier County on Monday and carried off a 9-2 win. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Smoky Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Brody Carr made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sean Young, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Jefferson County's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Northview Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.

Northview Academy might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Jefferson County when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
