Softball Game Preview: Tatum Eagles vs. Troup Tigers

For the second straight game, Tatum will face off against Troup. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Tatum fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Troup on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.

For Troup's part, Taylor Gillispie spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Gillispie has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kiyah Arterberry, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Troup, bringing their record up to 19-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Tatum, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
