Football Recap: Ellenville Falls to Eldred in First Game of Season

Ellenville had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Eldred Yellowjackets 34-0 on Saturday. The Blue Devils lost against the Yellowjackets in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 30-20 score last time.

Caige Burns threw for 106 yards while completing 78.6% of his passes. James Horvath was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards.

Koen McGill was a one-man wrecking crew For Eldred. as he rushed for 159 yards and three scores on only 14 carries, and also threw for 145 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 159 rushing yards gave McGill a new career-high. Eldred also got help from Trai Kaufmann, who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellenville will host Fallsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Eldred, they will welcome Pawling at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
