Recap: Robert C. Byrd Eagles vs. Lewis County Minutemen
The Robert C. Byrd Eagles lost against the Lewis County Minutemen back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Robert C. Byrd fell 60-47 to Lewis County. Robert C. Byrd has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Robert C. Byrd saw an underclassman step up: Camryn Newsuan scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newsuan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Smith Jr., who scored six points along with four steals.
Robert C. Byrd's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Lewis County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robert C. Byrd won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lincoln County at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Lewis County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Nicholas County at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
