Basketball Recap: Rocky Mount Prep Starts Season with Victory on the Road + How To Watch

Rocky Mount Prep had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 40-39 victory over the Hobgood Charter Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since January 17th.

Rocky Mount Prep's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sumaya Lancaster, who posted 14 points and three steals. Those 14 points gave Lancaster a new career-high. Jakayla Ricks was another key player, putting up four points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Rocky Mount Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Hobgood Charter now has a losing record of 1-2.
