Softball Game Preview: Collierville Dragons vs. Arlington Tigers

Collierville is 1-9 against Arlington since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Dragons will host the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

While Collierville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Bartlett on Monday. Considering the Dragons have won five games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Arlington and Briarcrest Christian meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Tigers never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Brittanie Layton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Layton was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Tatum Bittick was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Lillian Hatch was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 6-9-2. As for Collierville, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
