Basketball Recap: Appleton North Comes Up Short

Appleton North played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Kimberly Papermakers 75-48. The Lightning have struggled against the Papermakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Haylie Dulas was her usual excellent self, shooting 73% from the field on her way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists for Kimberly. The dominant performance also gave Dulas a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (80%). Ava Van Vonderen was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 13 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Appleton North's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Kimberly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Appleton North will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oshkosh North at 7:15 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Kimberly, they will be home for the holidays to greet Appleton West at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Papermakers will be up against the Terrors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
