Baseball Recap: Central Magnet Wins Going Away Against Washburn

Central Magnet's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Washburn Pirates 8-1. Central Magnet not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th (when they won 10-2).

Washburn's batters probably weren't too happy with Elijah Bonner, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up two walks). Bonner also allowed no hits, which is notable because Central Magnet is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 9-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Benson Reavis was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Braden Donahue also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Central Magnet pushed their record up to 11-12 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Washburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1.

Looking ahead, Central Magnet will square off against Newton Local at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Washburn, they will take on Oliver Springs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
