Baseball Game Preview: Chireno Owls vs. San Augustine Wolves

The Chireno Owls are taking a road trip to challenge the San Augustine Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Chireno came up short against Shelbyville and fell 10-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Owls in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost eight in a row.

Andrew Mitchell and Tate Johnson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mitchell went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Johnson went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Johnson's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Jeffcoat, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, San Augustine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Woden, falling 19-0. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by exactly 19 runs.

San Augustine's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Chireno, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9-2.

Chireno took their win against San Augustine in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
