Baseball Recap: Rauner Takes a Loss

Rauner and Noble Street College Prep squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Rauner had to settle for second. They came up short against the Golden Tigers, falling 21-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Rauner saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Anaya, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Rauner's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-14. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Noble Street College Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Rauner and Noble Street College Prep will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Wildcats see the field they'll take on Farragut at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Noble Street College Prep, their break will end when they face Kelly at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th.
