Basketball Recap: Medina Valley's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Medina Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. The contest between them and the United South Panthers didn't end well, with the Medina Valley Panthers falling 59-44. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Medina Valley this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 30-26 on January 3rd.

Trinity Dixon and Tori Ruffin certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Dixon went 7 for 17 on her way to 19 points, while Ruffin posted eight points and seven rebounds. Janasia Lee was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Medina Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Medina Valley's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-15. As for United South, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-11.

Medina Valley and United South should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Medina Valley will challenge Del Rio at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 582 places (362 vs. 944). Meanwhile, United South (ranked 147th) will meet Eagle Pass (ranked 1019th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
