Basketball Recap: Hermitage Panthers vs. Glen Allen Jaguars
The Hermitage Panthers lost against the Glen Allen Jaguars back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hermitage received a tough blow as they fell 66-47 to the Jaguars. While losing is never fun, Hermitage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Jaguars are ranked 44th).
Despite the loss, Hermitage still got an impressive performance from Breyona Robinson, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and five steals. It was the first time this season that Robinson posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Woodley, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Glen Allen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Worsham, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten assists, and ten steals. Worsham is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Shoulders, who scored 26 points along with three steals.
Hermitage's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Glen Allen, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hermitage will take on the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deep Run is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Glen Allen, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Justices at 6:00 p.m.
