Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Prep Saints vs. Desert Mountain Wolves

The Notre Dame Prep Saints just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Desert Mountain Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Notre Dame Prep has three straight victories, Desert Mountain has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Thursday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Notre Dame Prep made off with a 54-53 win over Campo Verde. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Saints' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Coyotes are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Desert Mountain didn't have quite enough to beat Willow Canyon on Wednesday and fell 57-54.

Notre Dame Prep pushed their record up to 7-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Desert Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Everything came up roses for Notre Dame Prep against Desert Mountain in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured an 83-17 victory. In that matchup, Notre Dame Prep amassed a halftime lead of 53-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
