Softball Game Preview: Pineville Rebels vs. Neville Tigers

The Pineville Rebels will take on the Neville Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pineville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Pineville barely beat Winnfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 15-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Rebels have won 22 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addalyn Burch made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Moore, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Briley Byrnes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Pineville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winnfield only posted an OBP of .150.

Meanwhile, Neville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Haughton, falling 12-1.

Neville's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Pineville, their victory bumped their record up to 26-4.

Everything went Pineville's way against Neville when the teams last played back in March, as Pineville made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
