Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for St. Augustine

While St. Augustine didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Swamp Owls on Tuesday. The Purple Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Dylan Robinson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Jayden Jackson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Bryce Robinson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

St. Augustine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win was the fourth in a row for St. Augustine, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will square off against Archbishop Shaw at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Augustine's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Archbishop Shaw's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, they will challenge South Plaquemines at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
