Poth entered their tilt with Nixon-Smiley on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs 61-39. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while the Mustangs are ranked 1220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Nixon-Smiley lost, don't look at Madison Yanes. Despite the final result, she posted ten points and seven boards. Yanes is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashly Garcia, who earned two points and five rebounds.
