Football Preview: Tulia Hornets vs. Lamesa Tornadoes
The Tulia Hornets will head out to square off against the Lamesa Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tulia is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Tulia was beaten by West Texas 68-22. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-0.
Although Tulia took the loss, they still got scores from Xavier Ortiz, Gustavo Trevino, and Trevino.
Tulia wouldn't let West Texas keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Diego Padilla led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by himself. Padilla is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lamesa). They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 victory over Dimmitt on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tornadoes as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Lamesa got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Ramos out in front who threw for 335 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.9% of his passes. Cylius Mccurley was Ramos' top target, picking up 193 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Tulia's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lamesa, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
