Softball Preview: Hamilton Emerald Knights vs. Morrisville-Eaton Warriors
Hamilton is 9-1 against Morrisville-Eaton since May of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hamilton Emerald Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Morrisville-Eaton Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Hamilton made easy work of New York Mills and carried off a 16-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Hamilton.
Ellie Freeth spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings every time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Rihana Dye and Adriana Catania did most of the damage at the plate: Dye went 2-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Catania got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two triples, and two RBI. Dye is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis LaFrance, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Morrisville-Eaton has not done well against Poland recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Morrisville-Eaton won by a run and slipped past Poland 16-15. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Hamilton now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Morrisville-Eaton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
