Softball Recap: Rowlett Takes a Loss

Rowlett dropped their record down to 14-15-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Sachse Mustangs by a score of 7-6. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 9-3.

Baylee Grant was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over ten innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jordynn Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-6 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Peyton LupPlace, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

As for Sachse, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

On Sachse's side, Logan Schultz spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Sachse let Jaycie Watson and Zoe Worley run wild. Watson went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double, while Worley went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Maya Mcclarity was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As of now, neither Rowlett nor Sachse have any future games scheduled.
