Baseball Game Preview: Loving Falcons vs. Eunice Cardinals

The Loving Falcons will face off against the Eunice Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eunice will be up against a hot Loving squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Falcons put the hurt on Jal with a sharp 13-3 win on Saturday.

Trey Tarvin was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. He has become a key player for Loving: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Diego Leija was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eunice). They were the clear victors by a 24-5 margin over Texico on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won eight in a row.

Eunice got a massive performance out of Jose Calvillo, who scored three runs while going 4-for-6. Those four hits gave Calvillo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Morales, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Eunice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Loving's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Eunice, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Loving beat Eunice 7-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
