Recap: Durango Demons vs. Lutheran Lions
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Durango Demons, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Saturday. Durango's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Defeat or not, Durango got some senior leadership from Tyler Harms who threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns and Louden Grimes who picked up 155 receiving yards and a touchdown. Grimes' longest reception was for an incredible 88 yards.
Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryken Daugaard, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 239 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Evan Holdridge, who rushed for 141 yards while picking up 8.3 yards per carry.
Durango's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Durango does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lutheran will head out on the road to face off against Green Mountain at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Green Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten games.
